FGM shall be eradicated (poem)

I have a scar in my soul
As part of me has been cut
Mutilated and stitched
With no hope to recover
Where is my clitoris?
Where has it gone?
Has it been buried?
Or just thrown away?
I wish I knew
Only half of me is alive
My other half is gone
In the name of culture
I am an impaired lady
Unable to enjoy sex
As wholly as a total woman
But through the tears of despair
Rays of hope are cutting across
One day sanity shall return
Humanity shall reign
FGM shall be eradicated
But until then let us fight
Let us save our daughters
let us stop sexocide

My Dear Flag (poem)

You are the pride of my soul
A piece of my humble heart
The sparkle of a jewel eye
Beside you I always stand
Guard and protect you in vigil
Keep you away from harm

My dear Flag
You are still a symbol of glory
A thread in the needle of peace
The propulsion of a unity force
Please fly in the air of freedom
Flap wings in a majestic delight

My dear flag
You are a sky without clouds
With a star shining in the middle
You represent serenity and joy
Without you unity is a dream
Flutter ever for the nation of Somalia
Fly never for communities and tribes
You are the flame of hope
Fools can’t put you off

MOGADISHU (Where is my beloved city?)

The Mogadishu of yesterday
The capital city of Somalia
The city of peace and love
The bedrock of our stability
The core of national unity

The Mogadishu of yesterday
The city of stunning beaches
Of beautiful oceans and shores
Of serene skies and soft winds
Of historic sites and monuments
Of merry laughter and enjoyment
Of smiles fitting on innocent faces

MOGADISHU (Where is my beloved city?)

Once a regarded as champion of peace
Mogadishu is now possessed by anarchy
Once known to be a source of stability
Mogadishu is now a city of instability

In her eyes tears of pain are drying
Civil war has reduced it to a rubble
Its schools have been terribly looted
Its hospitals were made militia camps

Allah Karim

From inside the burning house
Comes a plea for an urgent help
The roof is falling over family
There are bullets flying over
There are rockets landing on them
There is hunger killing children

Ferrying of food quite impossible
As sea is infested with pirates
Somalia is crying out for rescue
But rescuer is fumbling around
Looking for the keys to move in
While the door is open for him

Allah Karim
Allah is Merciful

Adam Abdulle Osman

from 1960, the year we became independent from the Italian Colonial Rule to 1967. He is the father of Somali Nation. I feel privileged to have met him in his farm in the eve of 1988.

He is the first President of Somalia
He ruled the nation for seven years
He did not corrupt anybody to be elected
Nor did he paid kick backs to stay in power
He came to power through free and fair means
And stepped down when voted against him
In office term he didn't squander coiffures
He rather protected then from pilferers
Through polling he became a president
And through polling he left office
He has made a record no African can break
As they come to office either through bulleting
Or rig the polls to win unfair elections
He is the champion of African democracy
Please pray for him be in Janatul Firdowz
